Army Spc. Derence W. Jack, 31, of Saipan, Marinas Islands of the Pacific

Jack died in Balad, Iraq, on October 31, 2005 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during patrol operations.

He was assigned to the Army Reserve's 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry, 29th Brigade Combat Team, Barrigada, Guam.

Navy Lt. Cmdr. Edward E. Jack, 51, of Detroit, Michigan

Jack died January 29, 2005 of a non-combat related incident aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard.

He was assigned to Commander, Destroyer Squadron Seven, home ported in San Diego, California.

Army Spc. Dustin C. Jackson, 21, of Arlington, Texas

Jackson died March 12, 2008 in Tallil, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle was hit by indirect fire.

He was assigned to the 350th Adjutant General Company, Grand Prairie, Texas.

Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kyle E. Jackson, 28, of Sarasota, Florida

Jackson died near Al Sukar, Iraq, on January 13, 2006 when his OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter came under attack by enemy forces using small arms fire.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 10th Aviation Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York.

Army Pfc. Leslie D. Jackson, 18, of Richmond, Virginia

Jackson died May 20, 2004 in Baghdad, Iraq, when her military vehicle hit an improvised explosive device as it was returning to Camp Eagle.

She was assigned to A Company, 115th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Ft. Hood, Texas.

Army Spc. Marlon P. Jackson, 25, of Jersey City, New Jersey

Jackson died November 11, 2003 in Tampa, Iraq, of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device exploded on the road.

He was assigned to A Company, 94th Engineer Battalion (Combat) (Heavy), 130th Engineer Brigade, Vilseck, Germany.

Army Staff Sgt. William "Jack" S. Jackson II, 29, of Saginaw, Michigan

Jackson died November 11, 2006 in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, of injuries suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat operations.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 16th Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Giessen, Germany.

Marine Lance Cpl. Jeriad P. Jacobs, 19, of Clayton, North Carolina

Jacobs was killed by enemy small arms fire on January 7, 2006 while conducting combat operations near Fallujah, Iraq.

He was assigned to 2nd Battalion 6th Marine Regiment Echo Company, Camp Lejeune North Carolina.

Army Spc. Morgen N. Jacobs, 20, of Santa Cruz, California

Jacobs died October 7, 2004 in Tikrit, Iraq, of injuries sustained in Aaliyah on October 6, 2004 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his patrol vehicle.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.

Army Capt. William W. Jacobsen, Jr., 31, of Charlotte, North Carolina

Jacobsen died December 21, 2004 in Mosul, Iraq, when his dining facility was attacked.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Washington.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Elizabeth N. Jacobson, 21, of Riviera Beach, Florida

Jacobson died September 28, 2005 near Camp Bucca, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near her convoy vehicle.

She was assigned to the 17th Security Forces Squadron, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas.

Army Spc. Mary Jane Jaenichen, 20, of Temecula, California

Jaenichen died May 9, 2008 in Iskandariyah, Iraq, of a non-combat related injury.

She was assigned to the Brigade Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Jaime S. Jaenke, 29, of Bay City, Wisconsin

Jaenke died June 5, 2006 as a result of enemy action when her HMMWV was struck by an improvised explosive device in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

She was assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 25, Fort McCoy, Wisconsin.

Marine Lance Cpl. Saeed Jafarkhani-Torshizi, Jr., 24, of Fort Worth, Texas

Jafarkhani-Torshizi died January 26, 2005 when the CH-53E helicopter he was in crashed near Ar Rutbah, Iraq.

He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

Army 1st. Sgt. Aaron D. Jagger, 43, of Hillsdale, Michigan

Jagger died in Ar Ramadi, Iraq on August 9, 2006 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during combat operations.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Friedberg, Germany.

Marine Cpl. Jesse Jaime, 22, of Henderson, Nevada

Jaime died June 15, 2005 when his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations near Ar Ramadi, Iraq.

He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, their unit was operating with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army, which was attached to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).

Army Pfc. Alfred Henry Jairala, 29, of Hialeah, Florida

Jairala died July 31, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Washington.

Army Sgt. Grzegorz Jakoniuk, 25, of Schiller Park, Illinois

Jakoniuk died in Taji, Iraq, on November 30, 2005 from non-combat related injuries.

He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Jamar died April 2, 2003 when his UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed in central Iraq.

He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.

Marine Cpl. Evan James, 20, of La Harpe, Illinois

James drowned March 24, 2003 while trying to cross the Saddam Canal in southeastern Iraq.

He was assigned to Engineering Company C, 6th Engineer Support Battalion, 4th Force Service Support Group, based in Peoria, Illinois.

Army Lt. Col. Leon G. James II, 46, of Sackets Harbor, New York

James died at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., on October 10, 2005 of injuries sustained in Baghdad, Iraq, on September 26, 2005 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during combat operations.

He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 314th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 78th Division, Fort Drum, New York.

Army Sgt. Lindsey T. James, 23, of Urbana, Missouri

James died January 29, 2005 in Baghdad, Iraq, from injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted patrol.

He was assigned to the 2d Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, New York.

Army 2nd Lt. Luke S. James, 24, of Oklahoma

James died January 27, 2004 in an improvised explosive device attack near Iskandariyah.

He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 505th Infantry, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Marine Lance Cpl. Richard Z. James, 20, of Seaford, Delaware

James died May 13, 2006 while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Marine Cpl. William C. James, 24, of Huntington Beach, California

James died November 9, 2004 as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.

He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Army Staff Sgt. Tricia L. Jameson, 34, of Omaha, Nebraska

Jameson died on July 14, 2005 in Trebil, Iraq. Jameson, a health care specialist was responding to a casualty incident when a secondary improvised explosive device detonated near her location.

She was assigned to 313th Medical Company, Army National Guard, Lincoln, Nebraska.

Army Spc. Charles Andrew Jankowski, 24, of Panama City, Florida

Jankowski died March 28, 2008 in Arab Jabour, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

He was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Army Capt. Benjamin D. Jansky, 28, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin

Jansky died July 27, 2005 in Al Taqaddum, Iraq, when his HMMWV was accidentally struck by another military vehicle.

He was assigned to the Army Reserve's 983rd Engineer Battalion, Monclova, Ohio.

Army Spc. Justin R. Jarrett, 21, of Jonesboro, Georgia

Jarrett died in Taji, Iraq, on October 2, 2006 of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

He was assigned to the 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Army Spc. Michael James Jaurigue, 20, of Texas City, Texas

Jaurigue died May 26, 2007 in Salah Ad Din Province, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Army Pfc. Allen B. Jaynes, 21, of Henderson, Texas

Jaynes died January 20, 2007 in Iraq of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

He was assigned to 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Army Sgt. Moises Jazmin, 25, of Providence, Rhode Island

Jazmin died in Taji, Iraq, on August 27, 2006 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his M2A3 Bradley Vehicle during combat operations.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Army Sgt. Brahim J. Jeffcoat, 25, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Jeffcoat died on August 6, 2005, near Balad, Iraq, while conducting convoy operations and an improvised explosive device detonated his HMMWV.

He was assigned to the Pennsylvania Army National Guard’s Company A, 1st Battalion, 111th Infantry, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Army Sgt. Edmund John Jeffers, 23, of Daleville, Alabama

Jeffers died September 19, 2007 in Taqqadum, Iraq, of injuries suffered from a non-combat related accident.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Army Staff Sgt. Gary Wayne Jeffries, 37, of Roscoe, Texas

Jeffries died from wounds suffered when his unit encountered an improvised explosive device during convoy operations January 28, 2008 in Mosul, Iraq.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Army Spc. William A. Jeffries, 39, Evansville, Indiana

Jeffries died March 31, 2003, he was evacuated from Kuwait to Rota, Spain, where he died as a result of a sudden illness.

He was assigned to National Guard Unit D Company, 1st Battalion, 152nd Infantry Regiment, Washington, Indiana.

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Victor W. Jeffries, 52, of Honolulu, Hawaii

Jeffries died December 31, 2007 as a result of injuries suffered December 24, 2007 in a vehicular accident in Kuwait.

He was permanently assigned to the Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group, Kuwait.

Army Staff Sgt. Kenneth A. Jenkins, 25, of Fouke, Arkansas

Jenkins died in Balad, Iraq of injuries sustained on August 12, 2006 when he came in contact with enemy forces using small arms fire during combat operations in Baghdad, Iraq.

He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Robert B. Jenkins, 35, of Stuart, Florida

Jenkins died May 2, 2004 as a result of hostile fire in the Al Anbar Province.

He was assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 14, Jacksonville, Florida.

Army Pfc. Rush "Mickey" Marshall Jenkins, 22, of Clarksville, Tennessee

Jenkins died October 30, 2007 of wounds suffered in Salman Pak, Iraq, when enemy forces engaged his unit with small arms fire and an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Georgia.

Army Sgt. Troy David Jenkins, 25, of Ridgecrest, California

Jenkins died April 24, 2003 at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany. On April 19, 2003, Sgt. Jenkins was on a dismounted patrol with other soldiers when he was injured as result of an explosion.

He was assigned to B Company, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Army Spc. Darius T. Jennings, 22 of Cordova, South Carolina

Jennings died November 2, 2003 in Al Fallujah, Iraq, when his CH-47 Chinook helicopter made a crash landing.

He was assigned to 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, based in Fort Carson, Colorado.

Army Capt. Drew N. Jensen, 27, of Clackamas County, Oregon

Jensen died September 7, 2007 in Seattle of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire during combat operations May 7, 2007 in Ba’qubah, Iraq.

He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Washington.

Marine Pfc. Ryan M. Jerabek, 18, of Oneida, Wisconsin

Jerabek died April 6, 2004 due to hostile fire in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.

He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Army Master Sgt. Ivica Jerak, 42, of Houston, Texas

Jerak died on August 25, 2005, in Husaybah, Iraq, of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his position.

He was assigned to Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Army Staff Sgt. Kevin P. Jessen, 28, of Paragould, Arkansas

Jessen died in Rawah, Iraq, on March 5, 2006 when an improvised explosive device detonated during combat operations.

He was assigned to the 22nd Chemical Battalion (Technical Escort), Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

Army Spc. Steven R. Jewell, 26, of Bridgeton, North Carolina

Jewell died August 14, 2007 in Al Taqqadum, Iraq, of injuries suffered when his helicopter crashed.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 52nd Aviation Regiment, Task Force 49, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

Army Sgt. Alex R. Jimenez, 25 at the time of his capture, of Lawrence, Massachusetts

Jimenez had previously been listed as “Missing-Captured”, he was part of a patrol that was ambushed by enemy forces south of Baghdad on May 12, 2007. On July 10, 2008 the Armed Forces Medical Examiner positively identified human remains recovered in Iraq July 9, 2008 as belonging to Jimenez.

He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, New York.

Army Sgt. Linda C. Jimenez, 39, of Brooklyn, New York

Jimenez died November 8, 2003 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington D.C. On October 31, 2003, Jimenez fell and was injured. She was taken to the 28th Combat Support Hospital and later evacuated to Landstuhl Army Regional Medical Center. Subsequently, she was moved to WRAMC where she later died.

She was assigned to the 2nd Squadron Combat Support Aviation (Maintenance), 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Polk, Louisiana.

Marine 1st Lt. Oscar Jimenez, 34, of San Diego, California

Jimenez died April 11, 2004 due to enemy fire in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.

He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, at Twentynine Palms, California.

Marine Cpl. Romulo J. Jimenez II, 21, of Miami, Florida

Jimenez died November 10, 2004 as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.

He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Army Sgt. Andrew R. Jodon, 27, of Karthaus, Pennsylvania

Jodon died May 12, 2005 in Samarra, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle.

He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Johnson died in Al Mahmudiyah, Iraq, on October 31, 2005 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during patrol operations.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Army Maj. Alan R. Johnson, 44, of Yakima, Washington

Johnson died January 26, 2007 in Balad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee in Muqdadiyah, Iraq.

He was assigned to the 402nd Civil Affairs Battalion, Tonawanda, New York.

Army Cpl. Carl "C.J." W. Johnson II, 21, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Johnson died on October 7, 2006 in Mosul, Iraq, from injuries suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington.

Army Capt. Christopher B. Johnson, 29, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri

Johnson died on October 16, 2004 in Baghdad, Iraq, when his OH-58D helicopter collided with another OH-58D helicopter and crashed.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 25th Aviation, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Wheeler Army Air Field, Hawaii.

Johnson died August 14, 2007 in Al Taqqadum, Iraq, of injuries suffered when his helicopter crashed.

Johnson died July 11, 2007 in Besmaya, Iraq, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit with indirect fire.

He was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Georgia.

Johnson died September 25, 2004 in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his convoy vehicle.

Johnson was killed in an ambush near Nasiriyah, Iraq on March 23, 2003.

Johnson died in Ramadi, Iraq on January 25, 2006 when a rocket propelled grenade struck his vehicle during combat operations.

He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 3rd Battalion, 172nd Infantry Regiment (Mountain), Jericho, Vermont.

Johnson died June 1, 2004 in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, when an Avenger rolled over.

He was assigned to D Battery, 4th Battalion, 3rd Air Defense Artillery, 1st Infantry Division, Kitzingen, Germany.

Army Spc. Maurice J. Johnson, 21, of Levittown, Pennsylvania

Johnson died November 1, 2003, in Mosul, Iraq, he was riding in a high mobility multi-purpose wheeled vehicle when it was hit by an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to C Company, 501st Signal Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), based in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Navy Corpsman Michael Vann Johnson Jr., 25, of Little Rock, Arkansas

Johnson died March 25, 2003 when shrapnel from a grenade hit him in the head.

He was assigned to Naval Medical Center San Diego, 3rd Marine Division Detachment, Fleet Marine Force, San Diego.

Army Spc. Nathaniel H. Johnson, 22, of Augusta, Georgia

Johnson died on January 8, 2004 near Fallujah, Iraq, when his UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter crashed.

He was assigned to Company D (Aviation), 82nd Support Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division based in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
